Region 21 NEWS

There will be FOUR events available for Region 21 students in 2012, because we will have both Black Belt Camp and the World Championships during the Summer. Start your planning now to accomodate the additional event.

Region 21 has a designated hotel for the World Championships in 2012. The hotel has agreed to a discounted rate for Region 21 guests. Amenities include free Internet, a pool, fitness center and spa (?), and a business center. There will be a Region 21 Hospitality Suite. Make your reservations now and enjoy the Worlds with your friends from Region 21.

Ms. Marilyn Nevado has decided to take a well-deserved rest, after years as our hard-working and dedicated Region 21 Treasurer. Many thanks to Marilyn for her hard work on our behalf. Ms. Stephanie Mabrouk has graciously agreed to add the duties of Treasurer to her impending new title of "Mom".

The FFA-Georgia facility in Ft. Valley, where we had Camp this year, will have both a new paintball course, and a high-rope rappelling facility available next summer. 

Camp will include a block to prepare candidates for their upcoming tests, and to demonstrate where they should concentrate their pre-test training.

Region 21 Dan Test Policy

Region 21 has established policies for those students wishing to test for any Black Belt rank.

If you have any questions about the Region policy, please see your instructor, or contact Master Hutchinson.

Packages for test applicants must be submitted to Ms. Marilyn Nevado no later than 30 days before the test. Do not send your package directly to Ms. Nevado. Give your test package to your instructor so that your studio owner can review and endorse the package, and then send it in time to meet the 30 day deadline. It is the individual student's responsibility to have all forms completed in time. 

Leadership Club

All Cho Dan Bo and Dan students pay the Region 21 Leadership Club annual dues of $15.00. The dues are payable on February 28 this year. Club dues are used to pay for visiting instructors, equipment and any other expenses related to Region events and training. Dues paid late, after February 28, will be $30.00. All LC dues are paid ON-LINE.

The College Scholarship Fund is supported by T-shirt sales at Region 21 events. All of the proceeds from shirt sales go to the Fund. Help your college students. Buy a T-shirt or two at the next Region function.

The deadline for paperwork is June 1, 2012, and winners will be announced at Summer Camp. The scholarship competition is available to high school seniors and college students. Applicants must carry a full course load and be Region 21 Tang Soo Do students in good standing.

Other WTSDA Regions

We are now posting event information from our neighboring WTSDA regions. Region 6 is Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Western Tennessee. Region 7 Is Kentucky, South Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. We encourage all Region 21 students to attend events in other regions, and we invite all WTSDA Region 6 and Region 7 students to participate in our events.
