Events in Region 21
& Elsewhere
Contact the individual studios for class days & times. Enjoy the benefit of belonging to an international brotherhood of martial artists. Train and compete with karate students from every part of the U. S., Central & South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
The gentleman just left of center, with the bushy white mustache, is Anko Itosu, known in Korean as Master Ito, the originator of the Pyung Ahn forms. Master Ito was responsible for bringing karate from secret training halls into the public schools of Okinawa. This is from a 1908 photo, taken at a kendo and karate exhibition.
Region 21 offers two black belt tests per year, one in the spring and another in the fall. Each test is paired with other training or competition. The events rotate among the studios in Region 21. Region 21 offers a Summer Black Belt Camp, for Cho Dan Bo and Dan ranks exclusively. Every Region event includes a visiting Master instructor. Grandmaster Shin attends Region 21 events on a regular basis. There are also Zone Training and Dan pre-tests offered throughout the year by the studios. The WTSDA hosts a World Championship every two years. Tang Soo Do students from around the world come together to compete and celebrate their martial art. Region 21 students may also attend events from other Regions, and Open (all-style) tournaments. |
